Jay Carney, former White House Press Secretary, reportedly being eyed for head of Apple PR

Quite a bit of news circling around Apple when it comes to advertising and PR in the middle of July for Apple. We heard earlier on July 14 that Apple might be parting ways with TBWA, with an eye to revamp advertising. Now, a significant name has been dropped for Apple’s chief of PR.
Based on a report released by re/code, it looks like Jay Carney is being considered to take the place at the head of Apple’s PR department. If Carney’s name sounds familiar, it’s because from February 2011 to June 2014, he worked as the White House Press Secretary. He has also worked as the Director of Communications for Vice President Joe Biden. Before that, as the Miami Bureau Chief for Time Magazine.
Carney would follow in the footsteps of Katie Cotton, Apple’s former Vice President of Public Relations, who retired earlier in 2014. It had been reported that Apple considered hiring for the position internally, however it is now widely believed that they are actively looking outwardly to fill the role. The report also states that Carney is also being considered for a similar role at Uber.
